Children helping children

Some Christmas gifts are warmer than others, and the foundation has had the pleasure of experiencing that children want to help children.

At Østbyen School in Bodø, a school class has been collecting money for Christmas for more than 10 years to give to the children at the orphanage.

Back in 2012, Inger Ellen visited the school in Bodø to tell them about the orphanage and to thank each child for wanting to help.

The school calls it a reverse Christmas calendar, where pupils are inspired to do various tasks at home and then donate their wages to orphans.

Some children even donate their own weekly wages, and Inger Ellen told the local newspaper at the time: “It’s really impressive and a lot of fun. At the same time, I think it’s great that the children get a sense that there’s a lot of joy in giving too. Not just getting”.

That’s what Christmas is all about.
